The KOLYBEL Band exists from the beginning of 1994. There used to be
different other groups that were playing absolutely different music and had
nothing in common with KOLYBEL, except the musicians majority of which were
the same. Nevertheless, all these bands gave birth to the KOLYBEL band, that
played its first concert in "TAM-TAM" Music Club in St.Petersburg, Russia on
the 7th of January, 1994.
The first album called "STEREO" was released by Moroz Records Co. in 1995
that was sold out promptly both in Moscow and in St.Petersburg.
At the present moment, the Band consists of 4 members:
NIKITA ALEKSEEV - vocals , MICHAEL EGOROFF - 6 string guitar,
NIKOLAI MIRONOFF - drums , PAVEL STEPANOVSKY - 5 string bass guitar.
The band plays mostly in the clubs of St. Petersburg (both plugged and
unplugged) and has its audience that has a strict tendency to grow bigger
and bigger. Apart from that, KOLYBEL also played at bigger stages and
concert halls in St. Petersburg: Petrovsky Open Stadium, Jubileinij Stadium,
Oktiabrsky Concert Hall, Kosmonavt Concert Hall, etc.
KOLYBEL had three big tours round Hungary in the end of 1996 and beginning
of 1997, playing mostly in the clubs of Budapest and other hungarian towns.
KOLYBEL participated in three biggest Rock Festivals in Russia since 1996,
Summer Festival in Odessa, the Ukraine in 1996, Tele marathon in Yerevan,
Armenia, and at the largest eastern European rock festival PEPSI SZIGET
(Pepsi Island) which took place in Budapest, Hungary from 14 till 20 August
1997. St. Petersburg rock group KOLYBEL was the only one chosen by the
festival management as the representative of Russian modern music.
KOLYBEL played on one stage with such well known groups and artists as DAVID
BOWIE, FAITH NO MORE, MOTORHEAD, FOO FIGHTERS, APOLLO 440, CARDIGANS,
ROLLINS BAND, DEUS, TOY DOLLS, NEW MODEL ARMY, FLUKE, etc.
KOLYBEL opened the last day of the festival in one concert with CARDIGANS
and FOO FIGHTERS. That is how the members of the band got aquainted with
Dave Grohl, ex-drummer of NIRVANA. Dave stood backstage and was listening
and watching KOLYBEL performance and after the concert he said: "It was
cool, man!"
By now, the second album of KOLYBEL has been released at Zvezda Records Co.,
St. Petersburg, Russia.
